IIJ unveils new laptop security solution

To remotely monitor and control mobile laptop security

Internet Initiative Japan has announced the July 2009 release of the IIJ Laptop Security Solution, a new mobile security application that claims to prevent information leaks and other threats through remote operation of the security features on laptop computers on the mobile network.

This solution, which was developed under an agreement with Alcatel-Lucent Japan, uses Alcatel-Lucent's OmniAccess3500 Nonstop Laptop Guardian (NLG) security product as well as IIJ’s mobile data communication service, IIJ Mobile service.

The new solution combines both GPS and UTM features into one data communications card that connects either via a 3G, wireless LAN or LAN network environment and establishes a VPN connection.

This solution enables system administrators to connect to and monitor laptop computers anywhere through the data communications card, and if the computer is lost or stolen, immediate action can be taken to implement security measures and protect vital information on the computer.
